Qwythos-27B-BF16 stability issues on macOS M5 Max
#3
by sunislee - opened
Tested Qwythos-27B-BF16 (50GB GGUF) on macOS with M5 Max + 128GB unified memory:
Issues encountered:
- LM Studio GUI: llama-server subprocess crashes on model load
- Command-line llama-server (2.27.1): Model loads successfully but crashes during inference
- OpenCode/Cline: Context overflow errors (64K context) and runtime crashes
Environment:
- macOS M5 Max, 128GB RAM
- Qwythos-27B-BF16.gguf (50GB)
- llama.cpp 2.27.1
- Same hardware runs Qwythos-9B-Q4_K_M stably
Conclusion:
27B model appears incompatible with macOS ARM architecture or has memory management issues. Works fine on other hardware (tested on Linux).
